then you got the statistic company which compile all this data without accounting for the first company junk

Where do you get this from? If you don't have proof of this, then I call BS on it.

yeah and what type of protection they use , is it invasive or not ?...

It's debatable, but not really relevant to what I'm saying. The point is you can reduce piracy... if you abandon the group of gamers most likely to pirate.

you seem to assume the only reason for less pirating is the said four approaches ...

All I'm saying is that these four approaches are consistently effective in reducing piracy.

well it's easy enough when they announce at the same time the number of downloads then you can relate amount/downloads = loss per download

That's still a straw man assumption. Unless they outright say "every download represents a loss," you cannot assume this is how they estimate their losses.

is it acceptable that a few poor sobs get wrongly fined without any way to get out of it to you ?

Is it acceptable to you that MILLIONS of people steal from PC game developers, and the state doesn't provide any protection whatsoever?

The current way to get proofs against a pirate is good enough.

Millions of people pirate every day without any fear of getting caught. Obviously the current way is not good enough.

secured ones are the minority in some countries,

That's a decision up to the individual. If they don't want to secure their own property, then they'll just have to accept responsibility for whatever their property gets used for.

The only reason I haven't locked this yet is because it's not degraded into personal attacks ... yet.

There have been countless piracy threads, its a discussion which will never end, so can people just know when to 'stop'.

Don't argue for the sake of it.

I was thinking of some new revenue stream ideas.

How about I mirror the Pirate Bay and change all their advertisers to my own. The Bay people shouldn't have a problem with that right?

And "Bleem!" lol it was a "funny" program aimed at emulating PlayStation Games, yet including heavy protection to prevent pirating

Bleem! and VGS, I remember them getting crushed by Sony.

They can be used to play "backups".

Now that Sony is no longer making PS2s it is a shame they cannot release their own software emulator or emotion engine card for PCs. I guess the "backup" problem would still prevent that.

A sad little part of me is still holding out hope that the next Final Fantasy will make it to Steam. :D

Haven't you heard, The Pirate Bay has gone legit, like Napster.

And eZ, you should realize by now it's Cranky himself that baits these arguments into a flamatory end result.

All I do is quote arguments I think are incorrect, and explain why I think they are incorrect. Much like what whismerhill and DaFox are doing in this thread too. I don't make personal attacks, I don't flame, I don't patronize, and I don't retaliate with personal attacks. I am not responsible for your own behavior. You are. And I would very much appreciate it if you made no more personal attacks or accusations in this thread.

What you do is spend an awful lot of thread space picking apart every word someone says and even when it's common opinion and/or opinions covered in interview you imply it's absurd. THAT is flame baiting anyway you cut it. You're the only one here that doesn't seem to realize or care that you are flippantly swimming upstream on this argument, as you do with many others you encounter. If there were an ignore list feature on this forum, you would be on mine. I've met all too many people with the same radical, I'm profound because I'm different attitude and quite frankly it's sickening. That's much of why I refuse to argue points with you anymore, you refuse to accept that the majority opinion IS valid, and that going against it just to be different is not enough to make your words profound or right. Consumers for the most part know when they've been wronged, and speak loudly when there voices are heard collectively. You're not going to get anywhere by acting like a wannabe lobbyist for those disrespecting them.

Hey look, only an hour after I posted that, it has degraded into personal attacks.

It takes 2 to argue: there is an ignore feature, it's called not posting and ignoring the posts yourself. Let me help.

Locked.
