ATI Announced SL-DVI > DP Adapter for Eyefinity

ATI recently announced immediate availability of Single-Link DVI > DisplayPort Adapters for Eyefinity. The adapters are immediately available from suppliers such as Accell and Sapphire. The support a maximum resolution of 1920x1200, and do not require any external power. I was able to get hands on with them. They are simply plug and play, need to drivers and simply work.

AMD Releases Catalyst 10.8 Driver Update

ATI released Catalyst 10.8. For Eyefinity users, the release is largely an incorporation of the Tri-Fire and Quad-Fire updates, and the AA fix for StarCraft II found in the 10.7a hotfix. There were additional performance updates and CrossFireX profile updates for a number of titles, including LOTRO and Left4Dead2.

Still no 5x1-Portrait support. We've seen it recently in the wild, and hopefully the 3x1-P CFX and QuadFire improvements are steps on the road to 5x1-P support.

WSGF Optimized Verisons of Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III

At QuakeCom 2010, id Software released the source code for Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III. The_cranky_hermit has responded by beginning work on WSGF Optimized versions of both Return to Castle Wolfenstein and Quake III. Both projects feature Native Hor+ gameplay support, as well as properly scaled menus, HUD and centered 2D graphics (for multi-monitor users).

3D Vision Surround is NVIDIA's multi-monitor gaming ecosystem. It utilizes a multi-GPU environment to drive multiple displays. It also supports PhysX and 3D gaming.

WSGF Source Engine Multi-Monitor HUD Editor

Left4Dead 2 (in addition to other games) is a visually stunning zombie shooter game by Valve Software, enhanched furthermore by the use of Eyefinity\Surround display configurations. However, as a side effect of this, the Heads Up Display (HUD) is positioned to the far outside edges of the display, making the viewing of critical information strenuous with repeated left & right head movements.

Fortunately there is a method in which to shift the HUD back towards the central monitor using mods which we shall cover in this article.

Delphium has been hard at work on his FOV & Aspect Ratio Calculator and updating the Centered HUD Files for Source Engine games such as L4D1, L4D2 and TF2 with the recent addition of Alien Swarm.
