New FOV & Aspect Calculator, and Source HUD Files
Delphium has been hard at work on his FOV & Aspect Ratio Calculator and updating the Centered HUD Files for Source Engine games such as L4D1, L4D2 and TF2 with the recent addition of Alien Swarm.
The FOV and Aspect Ratio calculator now has an auto-detect function. Plug in your the native resolution of your panels and the arrangement (i.e., 3x1, 3x2, etc.) and click "auto detect." The tool will now determine your bezel-corrected resolution and spit out all the information associated to your configuration.
With a recent L4D2 update, Valve changed how the Source engine works with custom HUD files. The games no longer allow for custom ".res" files, but require the mods to be in the ".vpk" files. While you're free to "roll your own," Delphium and GeneralAdmission have created .vpk files for the most common 3x1 (non-bezel corrected) aspect ratios. Download them on the L4D2 Centered HUD page.
