MORE 5870 frustration...

After ordering 3 new Dell DP monitors, the first one showed up today. I was excited to plug it in and solve my eyefinity problems (dell dp>dvi adapter flickering.) I turn on my computer and.... MY 5870 IS DEAD! aurrrgh!! Never OC'd or anything...

$$$ thrown at getting an eyefinity setup working:
410 XFX 5870 (up to XFX cust service to make this right now)
420 (2) Samsung 2343BX monitors
666 (3) Dell P2310H monitors
115 (1) Dell DP -> DVI adapter
30 DP and DVI cables

Nothing is working and I don't even want to add up the final figure of what I have wasted so far!

[quote]I dont know how it was different for me, but the Accell did work for me where the Bizlink didn't. Since noone seems to know/agree on what exactly the problem is, I say give the Accell a try as you can always return it if it doesnt work. Mine has been working two days so far without a problem. The Bizlink flickered after every 10 mintues or so and more the longer the machine was on.

Ok , I got to thinking about this some more. so i went through every single post to investigate this. One common factor is that everyone that has this problem . It has been with the dell/Bizlink adapter. apple adapter seams to be a hit miss thing.

3 people that have the tried the Accell. (Deke) (Mixelplix) and (scooby) each of these Individuals report no problems scooby did a Bios flash. but was the fix from the flash. or the adapter?

at anyrate I have already soaked a ton of cash into this anyway. I bit the bullet and ordered a accell adapter 1 day shipping. so I will soon see.

Good Luck, hope it works for ya!

Hello all, new frustrated Eyefinity user.

Actually my first step is just to get the display extended to all three monitors before even messing with Eyefinity. I have a 30" LG W3000H in the center, and two HP LP2065's in portrait mode on each side of the LG. The 30" is at 2650x1600 and the two HP's are at 1200x1600.

The HP monitor that's hooked up via the dell adapter goes into sleep mode within 60-120 seconds of turning on. However, if I turn down the resolution to 1024x1280 the monitor has not gone into sleep mode since (although I haven't tested for very long yet).

I have another older Dell 20" monitor I'm going to try swapping with one of the HP's to see what happens, hopefully that will work with the 1200x1600.

(I'm a resolution junkie and will not stand for 1024x1280, lol)

So, if I understand you correctly, the monitor using the DP adapter is not the center one?

Connect the center monitor to the DP adapter, reconfigure your group to compensate for the change in monitor position, and try again.

I had the same issue with the Accell adapter.

I didn't think that adapter could handle 2650x1600?
