I have a 1920x1080 Laptop Widescreen, and I'd like to find a way for PQ to use that. Anyone have any expertise here? Thanks!

Puzzle Quest should support it natively, I personally run it at 1280x800 window mode.

Sorry for the necropost, but I am wondering if anyone figured out a way to get the game to run at 2560x1600. It natively supports up to 1920x1200 but not 2560x1600. Lazy developers.

Puzzle Quest.exe with a hex editor. Change a bolded resolution you have available in game. Pick that resolution.

I think 1024x768 is backwards but I didn't bother to check. I tested 1440x900 and 1680x1050. Anything wider than 16:10 stretches for me. I don't think this game has native 16:9 support on the PC.

I tried 1728x1080 for a 1:1 with 1920x1080. Didn't test playing, could be issues.

That white stuff is from Paint.

Is there an easier way to change the game to use 2560x1600?

I found a binary registry call under the registry under current_user/software/infinite interactive/puzzle quest/resolution

Right now the file just says "11 00 00 00", and apparently it's 1920x1200.

I don't seem to be able to find that hex code in Puzzle Quest.exe. I'm opening it with HxD and using 'Find' but no luck.

lobski - I think that's which value it's picked (as in the first resolution, second resolution, etc.) because I'm stuck on 1680x1050 and mine is "0f 00 00 00".

The registry is just a placeholder value which indicates a fixed-resolution list.

Make sure you are searching for hexadecimal vaules in the editor not text values. Try smaller chunks of what I pasted or just the block that holds the resolution you want to change. You can also try XVI32 using the resolution pair with wildcards in the middle.

If you are having trouble with which pairs are what use the second post.

is it all in one area of the hex code?

or spread throughout it?

couldnt you just post the offset?

That would be redundant. Just search for a resolution pair that you can select in game. Use the list above.

Ex. 80 07 00 00 B8 B0 04
