The demo of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince has only a couple minutes of playable contents, and a very odd resolution range on my TripleHead setup : I can only select 640x480, 800x600, 3840x800, 4320x900 or 5040x1050. (Edit: using my 30" panel I can select 640x480, 960x600, 1280x768, 1280x800 and 1680x1050. Still a pretty weird fraction of my system's available resolutions.) There are no user config files and editing the registry keys doesn't help.

Widescreen (16:10) gameplay is Vert-. 16:9 is unsupported on my system. :?
TripleHead gameplay is Vert-/stretched - however the post-FX overlay is... just Vert-.

800x600, duelling

1280x800, duelling

3840x800, duelling

800x600, Quidditch

1280x800, Quidditch (sorry, no the same spot)

3840x800, Quidditch

If you resize your TH screenshots to a 16:9 ratio they are aspect correct for that ratio, though vert-, 3D parts too, not just the overlay.

Probably the game supports 16:9 as vert-, but can not handle an aspect wider than that. So you get a 16:9 viewspace with your TH resolutions.

As far as why other resolutions are not available, probably the game is having trouble getting them from your system info for whatever reason. Perhaps it will only show you resolutions that are the same aspect as your desktop and 640x480 and 800x600 are just hardcoded to always be there there for compatibility or low end systems.

Not having 1280x720 is funny, considering that it is also a console game. 1280x768 is also an HDTV res. 1680x1050 is the new res added my MS to the Xbox360 from the NXE update.
