Hello,

I'm running vista 32, and i just installed KOTOR 1 (a french edition) and updated it to 1.03 version. When i tried to run it, i got an error : "Conflict with disk emulator software detected. See http://www.securcom.com/emulation for more details", but i'm running from the original disk, and i have no emulation/burning softwares.

after some searches, i've found that its a problem that often happens on vista 32 bits, and that securom gave an executable fixed.
But this executable isn't compatible with UniWS, so i can't patch it to play in 1366x768 :? .

Does anyone have the same problem ? Does a solution exist ?

(ps : i'm french and i can't write in english perfectly  )

i finally got a good executable, which is patchable and runs correctly. but i have now an other problem :?

my laptop screen is a 15.6" with a 1366x768 resolution. the readme told me that i must patch in 1530x864, and that i must use the video card scaling to downscale to 1360x768, i don't know how i can do that.

nenyan.

Do you know what video card your laptop has? If it has an Intel integrated video card unfortunately there's nothing you can do, as their drivers don't support custom resolutions as far as I know. You'll have to play the game in standard 1024x768.

If the laptop has an nVidia or ATI card, your chances are better, but still not guaranteed. You'll first have to setup 1530x864 as a custom resolution on your video card.

I haven't had an ATI card in a long time so I can't help you out with how to setup a custom resolution for them.

If you have an nVidia card I can help you out, but I won't bother typing it up until you confirm which card you have.

hey, i patched swkotor.exe for a 1366x768 resolution, and i set Height and Width parameters in swkotor.ini to 768 and 1366, and it works.

and now i just have to adapt the HUD to that resolution, but there are no HUD files for 1366x768, only for 1530x864, i wanna know if someone could help me to adapt HUD files ?

(my laptop is a HP dv6 1030-ef, with a nVidia 9200 chipset).

thanks for your help

Okay, i understand now why i must patch in 1530x864, i haven't seen that patching in 1366x768 makes a "missing text" issue...

but im lucky, i have a nvidia chipset =p, can you explain me ?

thanks.

Please note that this is in not guaranteed to work. This will only work if adapter scaling works properly on your video card/drivers. If this doesn't work, try newer drivers.

1) Open up the nVidia control panel.

2) Select View->Advanced from the top menu if it's not already selected.

3) Select Manage custom resolutions from the menu on the left.

4) Click Create, then in the window that comes up, click Advanced.

5) Change the Timing standard to Manual. Do NOT change anything else in the Back end paratemeters section

6) Now in the Custom display mode values section ONLY, enter 1530 and 864 into the appropriate boxes.

7) Click Test.

If the test is successful you should get a message box asking you to confirm that the custom resolution works. Click yes to that and then you can close the control panel, the custom resolution should be good to use.

If the test is not successful your video card or the drivers you're using may not support scaling properly.

182.50, but those are for desktop cards. 179.48s are the latest drivers for the laptop cards.

Custom resolutions have always been problematic, they might just not work at all with that card or any of the recent driver releases.

There are however, a couple variations on how to set up custom resoltuions, so at this point the best I can recommend is that you do some searching on your own, and see if you can find an alternative method of creating a custom resolution works.

Otherwise you'll just have to stick with 1024x768.
