Weird, just downloaded the game via Steam but when I run it I can hear the game music but I just get a black screen. I'm running the 180.42 drivers right now since supposedly they're optimized for Far Cry2, but I'm going to try downgrading back to 178.24 to see if that'll work...

Billes ... I just happened to have seen this on another forum ... 2 mins ago ...

The fix for that black screen windowed when you first load the game. Go in your (user)DocumentsMy GamesFar Cry 2 folder and open up GamerProfile.xml.
Find (Maximized="1") change it to a 0 and save. Problem solved almost. Now load game and go to options and change dx9 to dx10 and accept then quit game. load game and go back to options and change your resolution to what ever you like then accept and play. Now the 180.42 drivers work great!

PS:I could not enable dx10 and change the resolution at the same time because game would go back to that black window mode.
Hope it helps ... 8)

I am soooo looking forward to this game, I hope it is sorted by the time it arrives here in NZ!

Off to do some lobbying :)

Added my +1 to that thread.

Sorry for the duplicate topic in the Widescreen Solutions forum...not really sure if we need one in the Widescreen and a separate one in the Surround Solutions forum.

Yes... this one is VERY fun.... and so far... quite polished.

An absolute SHAME that it won't run correctly in TH. I tried to stick it out.... but the FOV is like sitting in the front row of a movie theatre.

Hey Mark, were you all in contact with the devs prior to release? If so, they honestly have no excuse for this oversight. I can't imagine it would have been a huge resource sink to add correct FOV.

Thanks,

Wazoo
