I'm torn about Space Siege at the minute. It could be awesome... but it could also fall flat on it's face. :(

It's'97 again! Rush and shoot, and if U die, rush and shoot again, nothing bad happens. There are no forks in story line, no decisions of any kind, no selecting technician/fighter sidekcick, nothing... Missions are - go to sector X, visit locations A, B and C for main quest, and by the way you WILL pass trough Y which is sidequest... then back to base, and over again... If you find locked door, that is because they are planed as shortcut on your way back... and can be opened from other side... Only "thing" is decision about cybernetic parts - eye, hand, arm, legs, ... more you install, more powerfull you are, but less human...

That is not enough, not after Mass Effect. There is no feeling of that heavy and thight situation where lives depend on you. All coridors are the same, and if you need to protect someone opening the door, you can die and come again from last save-room, he will be there waiting, and aliens will not attack him at all...

So... Diablo was "intellectual puzzle" when compared to this game. Shame on yoo Chris Taylor! Shame!

Different game types for different times and moods.

Would I play burnout when I want deep storyline entrancing hours of calm fun? no, I still play it when I want to mindlessly smash things up.

Same for space siege.

I love neverwinter night, but I have to be in a mood to read lots and take things extremely slowly else, I'll just fall asleep.

If I want to just be a space marine without thinking or nothing I'll go to space siege.

And as I recall both dungeon sieges were just the same, more hack and slash than anything else, story included. And they did say space siege was "dungeon siege, but in space".

It ain't a mass effect, but I can't say that's a bad thing. (especially if it lacks the draconian drm).

Well, I have DS in my collection, and it is a fine game, but Space Siege is IMHO much below Dungeon Siege. Even for a hack 'n' slash - problem is that story of combat for survival and every single life clashes with this kind of gameplay. There are many HnS games today, and most of them try to be inovative in some things... This is the first that tries to go back in time... Even graphic is late-gen.

SS has been getting unflattering reviews. I found the demo to be lackluster and every review I've read of the game found it to be repetitive and boring.
