Ya, someone had to start a topic on this, and I'm hoping the responses won't be along the "over-hyped", "console game are crap", GTA IV sucks" lines...

Anyway, I assume it'll follow the same widescreen rules as the console versions, but after looking around for a bit I've no clue if the console versions are vert- or hor+ ...

Does anyone know this?

oh the date has been set for November 18.

Hopefully someone here can take comparison shots on one of the consoles.

I haven't seen lots of 4:3 screenshots, but looking at these the 16:9 ones don't seem Vert- to me. Maybe slightly Vert- and nicely Hor+, at worst... :?:

Are there a lot of recent console titles that are Vert- anyway ? I'd think they're primarily made for HD formats, which are 16:9, so how could they be Vert- ? (Just asking. I'm not into those keyboardless things at all.)

Okay Matrox, now tell me you've been working with Rockstar for flawless surround support :)

Judging how its optimized for widescreen , id say it'll probably be vert-
just because that would make more sense from a dev point of view (imo anyway.)

Not sure what you mean by that. If widescreen already works in the first place, making it hor + instead of vert - is trivial. It can be accomplished with a single line of code.

This has been quite a hot topic around here lately. Lots of people are going around calling 4:3 vert+ compared to 16:10. Personally though even if they do create it for 16:9 from ground up theres a right way and a wrong way to do it. Hor+ is the right way.

I don't want this to turn into a discussion about vert+/vert- again as theres already a few good ones, Just informin ya.

Well this is interesting...I just loaded up the game on my 360 and tested it out between 1280x1024 (normal, non-WS) and 1360x768; it appears to be hor+! Even the loading screen in the beginning! I could try taking some better screens of the game later, as the glare is hitting part of my screen atm.

Well color me surprised. Can you give us captures or pics for an example? I guess i remain skeptical.

Though even if it DOES turn out to be vert- I'm willing to bet someone here will be able to slap a hack together.

Well San Andreas PC was patched for WS, but only 720p and 1080i HDTV resolutions. I would assume since they went all out on this one and hired a 150 man team as well as taking a long time to come out with the port that they are likely putting more effort into everything, including proper WS support.
