Hello, I just have a questions for the experts around here. I have been looking for a new HDTV for gaming and TV. However, I keep seeing TV's with native resolutions of 1366 x 768 but they say in the information these units supports all TV formats - 1080i, 720p, 480i and 480p?

How can the TV support 1080 resolutions when the resolution of these units is only 1366 X 768?

Is my understanding incorrect or are these places advertising incorrectly?

Am I correct in my understanding that the only way to get 1080 resolutions is to have a display that is 1920x1080 or above?

I appreciate your help and information.

These screens will accept 1080p input from a full-HD source and then downscale it to their own native resolution instead of simpy going blank or crashing.

That makese sense. I thought I had the right idea.

As I said, the only way to get 1080P/I is to have a disaply that can handle those resolutions.

I am actually using a 1680X1050 22" widescreen but I want a new display that will handle 1080P.
I don't know why I didn't wait to get one in the first place but oh well, now I have to buy another one!

Thx for the information.

also note, that to many TV's and Video sources, 1080i is Really 1440x1080 @ 30Hz (which is a square that they pump widescreen through, thus distorting the image even more.)
