The question is though, why is it not the orange box? I mean in total the 3 games that essentially make up the orange box win, its pretty hard to say Portal lost to CoD4 since you cant exactly walk up to your favorite retail store and buy portal. I mean I know this is a little valve fanboyism coming out in this post but Portal is barely its own game, theres no Portal in the NDP data, its The Orange Box.

If you and/or Ibrin decide to stick with just Portal vs CoD4 then il instantly shut up, because I know CoD4 Deserves to win just as much as Portal/The Orange box.

Who has bought Portal alone on steam? I know over 30 people within my group of friends that have portal, every single one has bought it via the orange box.

I'd rather have Portal stand on its own (look how far it's gotten) than vote for Orange Box simply for 'great value.'

IMO, if you can consider The Orange Box to be a game, then you'd have to consider this to be a game too:


And if compilations count as games, then how could you consider The Orange Box to be the best of 2007? Doesn't the Source Premier Pack of 2007 offer everything The Orange Box has to offer and more? And isn't Valve Complete Pack of 2007 even better than that?

Obviously you have to draw the line somewhere. I say that if it's entirely self-contained in terms of being a gaming experience, then it is it's own game.

On the other hand, if this award were "if you buy just one retail box this year make it this one" and not GOTY, I'd have no qualms at all about The Orange Box's eligibility.
