I have purchased 24 inch LCD which allows for 1900X1200(DoubleSight DS-245W) ohhrahhh! Nuff said on that front.

I am trying to get BF2 to work with WideScreen and using the commands which I understand to put in short cut etc... I totally follow that and want to give thanks to all who have reserached.

Here are my questions:

1. When I apply the +szx 1920 +szy 1200 to shortcut I use FRAPS but how can I tell if I am playing at that resolution?

2. In the default drop down resoultions of the game I also have option for 1600X1200. Shoud I just choose this as it is equivalent and I would not lose the upper and lower part of screen?

Any and all perspectives are welcome.

Thank you in advance.

1. I don't know what u mean....
2. If u choose 1600x1200 it normally falls back to the dropdown resolution.
and it wont cut off anything becuase this is the 4:3 resolution which is
stretched on your screen.

You say you're running fraps, just hit f10 (or whatever your screenshot key is) and then check the resolution of the screenshot taken.

You should be able to tell what resolution you're in by looking at your LCD's OSD. Pretty much all of them have an option to tell you what resolution/mode you're running in. If yours doesn't, then you can just look at the game and tell whether it's in 1900x1200. If text is crisp and clear and nothing really looks blurry, then it's not getting scaled. If all else fails, take a screenshot and check the resolution.

If you do not want to have the tops and bottoms cropped off, then you'll have to use 1600x1200 (black bars on left and right) or use a third-party fix.

Well I checked the OSD information and sure enough it states 1900X1200 so thank you for that info to confirm. But I am curious if 1600X1200 is better as one would not lose the upper and lower sections of the screen. What are the thoughts on that?

Hi Guys,
I am new to this forum, and reasonably new to widescreen gaming as well (have my 24" monitor for just 2 weeks now).
I am trying out the solutions that I find in this forum, but Battlefield-2 and -2142 are giving me problems.
If I add the +szx 1920 + szy 1200 to the shortcut command line, just behind the "menu 1 fullscreen 1", the game just immediately crashes to the desktop.
both BF2 and BF-2142 do that ...
In fact , ANY resolution I enter in the +szx +szy is making it crash and it will only start-up if I delete those entries from the line ...
Does anyone know what am I doing wrong here ???

Greetings from Holland ...

Moved to General Gaming Discussions since this is not a detailed report.
