Dark Corners of the Earth is an adventure game developed by Headfirst Productions. The game is set in the The Call of Cthulhu universe created by the author H. P. Lovecraft. Players control Jack Walters as he seeks to uncover mysteries and stave off insanity. Gruesome and terrifying scenes will cause Jack to hallucinate and inhibit his ability to function. Excellent game - If played right. Perhaps a little to slow paced for adrenaline junkies who like to complete games in 5 hours. Play slower, smell the roses you know? It's an adventure game played first person, not UT III. Anyway, there's a little known unofficial patch that allows you to alter the FOV in both standard and sneak modes. You can find it here....

I play on a 24" monitor at 1920 x 1200 using fov 85 and it looks just fine...

Not sure if this affects it's widescreen rating though?

None at all. A stretched game with an increased FOV is still stretched. It's not like being vert - where increasing the FOV turns it into hor +.

Whatever you want it to be. The game uses a 4:3 aspect ratio for everything so teh fov will just zoom things out but they will still be distorted.

It is a preference thing.

Why is the game listed as having a "native" widescreen implementation? The widescreen isn't native, the picture is clearly stretched from 4:3.

Native (method) only makes sense when paired with Stretch (screen change); the combination results in the grade (Widescreen Unsupported). That's why Support summary starts with Screen change, not Method ;)

Native support simply means you don't have to do anything special for the game to run at a widescreen resolution.
