Well, I thought about that and at first saw their point. The thing is though, predators are in such environments. They may not congregate close to encampments as they like to stalk their prey in places where they're undisturbed by man, but they are out there.
After further thought I could see that having predators in the remote areas away from encampments would make sense, especially if they were scripted to only chase you within a certain distance of the camps and scare off by gunshots and vehicles.
Doing it in this way would keep the realism while avoiding being overwhelmed by unrestricted predator AI. The times you would be most at risk of predator attacks would be on foot in remote areas, which is the way it should be.
Obviously you'd have your weapons though, so it's not like you'd be a constant chew toy. I'm not talking huge numbers of predators either, just a smattering, enough to add to the realism. Hopefully someone will make a mod or Ubi will patch some in. Skinning and animating such models would be quite difficult for the average modder though. Then you'd have to add realistic sounds too.
