Sounds like a 360 mode.

The larger HUD that is moved away from the edge of the screen would be for overscan.

I've been trying to download the main listed hack for days, from:

http://dl.tocaedit.com/bioshockdFOV.zip

But the whole tocaedit.com domain seems to be down - unable to establish a connection type errors.

Please could anyone who has this hack post a copy somewhere? I really want to play with proper hor+ widescreen.

dopefish - I did try your hack, but it wasn't working for some reason. I launched the hack, selected Bioshock from the games list, selected my ratio (16:9) and launched the game. I put the hack window on my second monitor where I could see it during the game, and it detects that the game is running, and even toggles between enabled Yes/No when I press ;, but there is simply no effect in game. The screen stays the same when enabled or disabled. I've got my resolution set to 1360x768 with the in-game settings.

Can you tell us your OS, videocard, and videocard drivers. Maybe something that dopefish will help.

When did you press ;? Were you already in game?

I've had this problem with some other games for some reason, and I though I had fixed it (and I did for some other games), but I might have overlooked BioShock. If it doesn't work right away when you press ;. While it still says it's enabled, change the aspect ratio to something else and then back to the aspect ratio you want. You should see a change.

Also, the Field of View Value should say something other than 1.0 when enabled.

Yeah, I was already in game when I pressed it. It did change to say "enabled" when I pressed it, but the FOV value stayed at 0. I'll try changing the aspect ratio whilst in game and enabled then.

OS is Vista 32 Bit Ultimate, video card is an nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX, drivers 163.69 (7.5.11.6369)

Did you run my app as an Admin? If you have UAC on, you need to tell WidescreenFixer to run as an Administrator, otherwise it will not work right.

As for the fixer, while in the menu of BioShock, it will report 0 (iirc), but once you're actually loaded in game, it will work. Before you enable it, it should say 1.0.

I am running as a local admin, and have UAC turned off. I just tried again now and specifically started it using "Run as administrator", no difference. The reported ratio has never yet said anything other than 0, either before or after enabling, in the menu or in the game itself.
