Be aware that "VIDEOMODE" numbers will correspond to different resolutions for different PCs. An unfortunate way of configuring graphics options...

First, thanks for the support... I will try your suggestin this weekend when I have time to play... I will post back info.

No, new drivers were installed in Jan. TH2G gives me problems enough, mostly the SGU and GXM programs, always failing.

New video drivers may make things worst...LOL. However, the drivers in Jan 2008 were out long before this patch for F1C.

I have the same problem in F1 2002 and they TH2G / Matrox web site claims the TH2G supports the F1 2002 game. Which it does not.

Anyway, I tried to edit the cfg file and did not help... I'm really disappointed, and the support at Matrox simply close at 5pm central std time and are located in Canada w/o a toll free number, but they do offer free support... another joke... LOL

Not mad and thanks for the help, I would really like to get these two games to work.

TH2G works for me for the following games:

Dirt
GTR2
GTL
Race 07
rFactor
Rally Sport (thaks Paddy)
Cyrsis
FAR
Gears of War

Does not work with
GPL (game crashes... and I used the All-in-one-patch
Moto GP 08
F1 2002
F1 C
UAZ Truck racing

Don't mean to hijack the thread, but GPL works just fine. I suggest you install the 2004 demo and use that as a base; you can add the original tracks from an original CD if you wish. Less patching this way.

If you run in DX you need to use 1920x480. In OpenGL mode you can use up to 3840x1024. I have GPL working just fine, so the problem is somewhere on your end.

I understand... I purchased the new re-release CD from Sold out. software. Then I D/L all the latest patches. started with the new _all-in-one installer from the GPL site.

For some reason the game crashes from the beginning.

I will try your suggestions.

I notice I'm having GXM problems and will be calling the Matrox Folks today, working from home.

I would love to have the GPL game running in OpenGL...!

Thanks again for suggestions.

For softTH users I have an idea about how to fix this issue with the vertical bits on top and bottom being cut off and the fact that you can't adjust vertical field of view to fix it. Since we have an option to adjust the horizontal field of view, maybe we can just use a 4:3 resolution like say 1600x1200 and then divide the horizontal res by 3, we get 533.333, but its not a equally dividable resolution, so I guess we just use 532 + 2 border=left screen, 532=middle, 532 + 2 border=right screen to make it add up to 1600. So we have 532x1200 resolutions for all screens. We would need to add these custom resolutions in the driver for all monitors(easier with Nvidia cards). Now by default F1 Challenge should render the whole vertical field of view instead of cutting the top and bottom parts. What we should have now is a horizontally stretched picture over the whole 3 screens all up. So all we would need to do is multiply the horizontal field of view by three I think, and hopefully after all this we would have a correct aspect ratio. I'm going to experiment with this and see what I can do, for you Matrox TH / TH2GO users I don't know if and how it would work, what happens when you run a 4:3 resolution? does it split it by three to all screens? If so this may work also but I think you probably might need a custom resolution of 1602x1200 so it splits it up evenly, but that would mean that you'd need F1 Challenge config to support that resolution. Anyway hope this helps everyone. :wink:

OK... working on F1C 99-02.

I redownloaded the files and unzipped and copied them over the 3D config and F1.exe files

The readme also says to edit the following:

edit Default.cfg (in save folder) to change FOV and other parameters.

Is this my problem... which files to edit and what to put. Do I need to do this before or after I run the 3D edit config program?

I do have a Digital TH2G and the latest GXM/SGU utilities released this month.

I still do not have any resolutions higher then 1680X900 (not 1050)

Also, I tried to edit the config.ini to the correct Videomode... =124 and the game crashes on when dbl clicking the desktop icon

PLease continue to help me.... the matrox support is useless when it comes to this type of help.

Thanks guys
Randall

Can anyone tell me what to edit the FOV settings to?

I notice that the link to D/L the file for F1C with TH2G states you must edit this file... and the link for information posted is a dead link to a Matrox Website forum.

See info:
F1 Challenge 99-02
F1 Challenge 99-02 (600) 30-
Dec-2003 15:05 1.25 MB
You need to adjust FOV.
see this topic on Matrox's Forum
http://forum.matrox.com/mga/viewtopic.php?t=3463
F1 Challenge GTR2002 Mod (309) 30-Dec-2003 15:08 1.25 MB Link to GTR2002 Mod

Therefore, I can not get this info.

It seems to me that I should be able to run these two games... both the 3Dconfig programs run but do not offer any higher resoultion as I stated earlier.

Thanks guys
RK

Won't work on a TripleHead2Go for two main reasons.

1. single screen resolutions sent to the TripleHead2Go will display only on a single monitor.

2. Custom resolutions are not available for use with the TripleHead2Go.

RKipker, you can find the information about the FOV adjustment in this particular thread (3rd post). However, it will not help you if you can't get surround resolutions. Maybe you can start the game in a windowed mode and then maximaze it across all three displays.

Hello,

You could be using my settings, because I did post some settings for this game at Matrox Tech Support Forums. I think that it was actually me, who said that we needed different type of camera settings for each car.

This was my settings for Ferrari car in "default.cfg" file:

LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
Fov=(107.000000, 62.500000)
Clear=TRUE
Color=(164, 218, 249)
ClipPlanes=(0.100000, 500.000000)
LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
MipmapLODBias=(-1.500000)
Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
Flags1=(0)
Flags2=(0)
RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
OrientationRate=(35.000000, 35.000000, 25.000000)
PositionOffset=(0.000000, 0.20000000, 7.900000) (Left-Right, Up-Down, Back,Forward)
OrientationOffset=(-0.030000, -0.000000, 0.000000)
Radius=(-7.500000)
}

Well, I never had the time or the interest to optimize the camera settings for other cars. It's a shame that the game doesn't really support adjustable FOV like GTR, GTR2 and rFactor, for example. In many ways, these games look very similar to F1 Challenge 99-02.

Only the file Default.cfg.
See my previous post for the cockpit camera (for Ferrari).

Do I need to do this before or after I run the 3D edit config program?

It doesn't matter. You can do it in both ways.
