Hey, guys,

I've had the TH2Go, analogue version for about, oh, maybe a year and a half. I run 3-22" Samsung SyncMaster 204BWs on it, and drive it with a single GeForce 7950GTo(factory overclocked).

Like everyone else here, I can't play without it, now that I've used it.

Now that time's passed, Crisis, et al have been released, and I'm struggling with my framerates. Having recovered from my TH2Go purchase, I'm ready to upgrade, but not in a hurry.

I like to wait at least 2 generations between cards, and although highly tempted at the release of the 8800GT, I'm still holding out. Now the 9600s and 9800s are out, I'm almost ready, but the media/reviews/versions are a little confusing. Since the resolutions for Triple head are so high, I THINK it's time to run SLI, as my ASUS M2N-32SLI was picked with this in mind.

Is SLI REALLY usefull for driving the resolutions of Triple head?

Would you purchase 2 of the price-fallen 8800GTs, or 2 of the 9xxx versions?

Thanks alot, anybody willing to read, reply...

From the becnhmarks I've seen SLI is useful. It doesn't mean you need it, though.

When looking at reviews, try to find one that benchmarks at 2560x1600. This is about the same number of pixels as 3840x1024 and should give you a decent representation of how a certain GPU (or GPUs) can handle triplehead resolutions.

I have an 8800GTX to run my TH2GO, and in order to get a solid 30fps in Crysis, I need to run at medium, ideally. High can be done at a stretch, but it goes as low as maybe 18 or 19 fps when lots of stuff is happening.

Which resolution are you using?

Aftern sitting out the 8800 series (I had a pair of 7800GTX's in SLI for about 2.5 years), I upgraded last week to a pair of 9800GTX's.

So far I'm quite pleased. I just played through HL2:Eps 2 for the first time and loved it! I ran at 3840x1024 with EVERYTHING maxed out and it was smooth as silk!

I'm starting Bioshock for the first time as well and am running in TH2Go with everything maxed and it runs FANTASTIC!

Big upside is that they are very quiet cards as well.... at least compared to my 7800's....

I ran 3dmark06 to compare sli vs a single 8800gt. My fps in the sm3.0 test went from 25fps to 52fps average with the 3840x1024 resolution.

Generally, the lower the fps, the better sli scales, assuming the gpu is what's holding back your fps. Once you hit 100fps, the benefits decrease. Sorry i can't comment on any specific games.
