Hey guys ...
With a little direction from my buddy Racer_S ...
I have managed to fix the Aspect Ratio problem that you get when playing games with the Doom 3 engine ... :D
Actually it isn't the perfect aspect ratio for TH but it is close enough.
I don't know if they work in multiplayer as I have only used them with the single player games.

Set the game up for TripleHead as normal ... it is the same as for Widescreen but with TripleHead resolutions ...
IMPORTANT ... set the Aspect Ratio to 16:9 in the config file
No need to change the FOV as it is automatically corrected ...

All these games use a file called ... gamex86.dll it is different for each game ... so don't get them mixed up !
Make a back up of the respective gamex86.dll file then replace the original with my version in these rar files here ...

Nice :D. I'd have to say they make the game look a heck of a lot better.

Thanks guys ... :)

An update for Quake 4 ...

To get Quake 4 to work with the game patched to v1.3 ...
Download my ... rar file from here ... game000.rar
Rename it ... game000.pk4

Always make backups before you change anything !!!

Go to your ... q4base ... folder and delete the file ... gamex86.dll
Now ...replace your game000.pk4 in the ... q4base ... folder with my version.
That's it play the game with the correct Aspect Ratio ... :D

Always make backups before you change anything !!!

Great Paddy.

What is the difference between the SG gaming experience with your fixed fileversion and the orig. game with FOV corrected?
Or is it true, that the non-patched screenshots are already FOV corrected ?

Hi there ... welcome to the WSGF ... 8)

The FOV is automatically adjusted for the aspect ratio even without my files ... BUT ... the aspect ratio isn't incorrect for 3 screens as you can only select/set it to 16:9 or 16:10.

Although you can set the FOV for TripleHead resolutions it is of little use if the aspect ratio is incorrect and the characters look short and fat.

My files alter the 16:9 aspect ratio to be about correct for TripleHead which in turn corrects the FOV ... :D ... and they make the games far more playable ... :D

EDIT : typo in red.

I am beginning to understand that there is fov one the one hand and aspect ratio one the other... :o

Is there a list of games that have both values perfect for sg ?
I suppose there are not many games with perfect aspect ratios for sg.

Now I am dealing with Condemned with TOCAs fov hack but persons on the side screens lock a bit spanned.
Is this an aspect ratio problem or what?

Hello again ... :)

Regarding the wide people on the side screens ... objects get wider towards the edges of the screen ... even at 4:3.
Unfortunately this means that on really widescreens such as TripleHead those objects on the side screens can look pretty distorted.
There are no games that are perfect for SG or even 4:3 it is just more noticable on such a wide screen that the TH2G gives you.
Some games are better than others but it is like this for just about all first or third person shooters.
Here is a thread showing this distortion even at 4:3 ... take a look ... 16th post ... http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/5886

I am very used to this distortion and when I'm playing games in TripleHead it doesn't bother me at all ...
I am so concentrating on the centre screen the sides just become peripheral vision and add to the immersion ... 8)
