It is a side scroller though and traditionally, like fighting games they don't support anything but 16:9.

It's also a sprite based game, meaning it's pixel perfect scaling in all resolutions/aspect ratios. Aka, it's anamorphic.

It's also easily playable in a small window.. and objectively easier if you have a big screen since you can see way more without moving your eyes all over the place.

This is one of the few games that I don't mind not having 21:9 support, and neither should you.

But hey, if it ever happens, cool. Just don't expect it, let alone demand it.

Is this game able to be modded to have ultrawide support similar to how other sidescrolling games like Hollow Knight have been?

Probably, but since it uses a custom engine none of the "regular" hacks is gonna work.
