I see Silent Storm on the native widescreen list but I can't get it to work widescreen on my Dell XPS Gen2 laptop. The native resolution for the monitor is 1920 x 1200 but it doesn't show up in the video options...just the normal 4:3 ones (1024x768, 160x1200 etc.). I would even settle for a lower 16:10 resolution (1680x1050). There's also mention of a config file but there's only one resolution line, not the normal 2 like I'm used to (horizontal and vertical). I tried changing it to both 1920 and 1200 but neither worked.

So my question is, are any of you able to run this WS and if so I'm I missing something? Thanks.

Oh yeah, I'm running version 1.2.

I'd love to know the answer to this too...I just started replaying it yesterday and the Silent Storm fansite that I saw seemed to indicate that the config files for this game are extremely widescreen unfriendly. The way you specify resolution is with one! parameter for the horizontal resolution! There is no height parameter as far as I can tell.

I was also not able to get it above 1600x1200. I wanted to play it on my Dell 2405FPW

Well it seems like this should be removed from the native list. I'd hate for someone to buy it hoping to play it widescreen (like I did - although I'll just take it off my laptop and play it on my other PC).

I tried to do some research about this game on the Nival forums and elsewhere and the only thing I found was a tantalizing clue that somewhere some Nival people had discussed doing something about the resolution on widescreen laptops. But I wasn't able to find the actual posts that were being described.

:(

It's a great game that's worth playing even in fixed aspect ratio mode though.

:D

If you can find it. I was waiting for the price to drop a bit, and EB and Gamestop don't stock it anymore. I'm bummed out, I was really looking forward to this game :(

To those who have troubles with Silent Storm - try Silent Storm: Sentinels. I've been able to set 1920x1200 using the in-game video menu with no trouble at all on my BenQ FP231W (1600x1200, on the other hand, is conspicously absent from the list of avaiable resolutions. Go fugure).

SS:S is also WAY better than SS.

While the silent storm sentinels expansion does add some widescreen resolutions, they are stretched 4:3. So i use my 'in-between' res of 1760x1200 to get half the stretch. Great game though!
