I tried a search before I am asking my question, both on google and here. I have my new monitor and realized my video card has a displayport connector.

Question:

Would a displayport cable actually be worth it over my HDMI cable? With my monitor being native 2560X1080, would displayport make that much of a difference? All of the information on google mainly just talks about the cables, I haven't really found any real world examples from youtube or anywhere else. So please, advise. Thanks in advance! =)

HDMI will suffice. Depending on the version of the ports, you may be limited if you went above your current resolution/refresh rate.

HDMI and DP are both digital connections. On contrary to VGA there is no quality problem. They both can include Video and Audio signal in a single cable and if you don't have a cable longer than 25m it doesn't really matter.
The difference is DP 1.3 Can carry way more bandwith than HDMI 1.2.
But that only matters if you have 2560x1440 144hz or 4k 60hz

Ah so basically I don't really need a DP cable. Sorry it took so long to respond to your posts, I work in grocery retail and yesterday was a super long day.

If your have a monitor that has a Higher Refresh rate than 60hz in 1080p you might consider switching to DP. I think you are supposed to be able to get more than 60hz in 1080p with HDMI, but I could never get it above that on my friends monitor and he had a 144hz monitor. I switched to DP and his refresh rate was where it should have been.
