Hello,

I have been using two BenQ XL2420Z's for a while now and I am now looking to upgrade to a triple monitor set-up. I see that the monitors I own have been discontinued, so I have been looking at the newer BenQ XL2420G. So I was wondering if there is any point having 1 monitor with G-Sync and two without.

By the way I own a pair of GTX 980's in SLI.

Thanks.

At first I thought you bought a 4K monitor with existing 1080's. But they are all 1080. I don't think you will notice without gsync. You can turn if off with your mentioned new monitor. To use it, you would need to play on that one monitor.

I just bought a Dell 27in 4K monitor on a price match for $10 less than your amazon priced XL2420G at $529.

That is a lot of money for a 1080 monitor, but you get to do whatever you wish :)

Why did you get 2 980's? not for 1080 gaming is it?

what size do you want? I'd say BenQ is a good choice to go

Get a BenQ, you won't regret it.

Not sure if you ever went ahead with the purchase, but I figured I would give input for others since I have the exact set up you described.

The g-sync I don't really notice that much, but I also have a pretty high end system and don't really drop FPS that much. What I did notice is that when the xl2420g is plugged in with displayport (required port for g-sync) the colors are slightly off from the xl2420z's and they cannot be modified in the OSD. I contacted BenQ about this and they advised that this is due to G-Sync hardware and there is nothing that can be done. The fact that I don't really need the G-sync with my system that much right now, I would have rather gone with three xl2420z's and saved some money.
