I hope this isnt what my BF2 guys told me when they said ws would be supported, it wouldnt be stretched BUT you lose some top and bottom. Is losing those portions a huge thing though while playing?

In my opinion a big YES.
On a wider screen I would expect a wider view ... otherwise what is the point of a wider screen ?
We didn't buy chopped down 4:3 screens we bought widescreens.
Should we have just bought bigger 4:3 screens ... say about 24" wide ...

lol that sucks. I was hoping youd say its still really nice ;). Im going to wait a little bit longer and try to get answers from BF2 insiders, if there isnt anything Ill probably do what you said and return it and get a bigger 4:3 CRT or something.

It is really nice ... IMO probably the best looking game to date ... the gameplay seems great ... and if the demo is anything to go by its way better that CounterStrike Source ... but then that has proper widescreen support.

Don't get me wrong I think it is still very playable on a widescreen with the top and bottom chopped off ... it just it isn't the way widescreen is supposed to work.

I think I'll just have to find a 24" wide 4:3 to run along side my 24" WS and switch between the two ...

LOL lucky ;). Ya I know the game itself looks nice but I wanted it to look nice in ws too before I would keep my new 2005fpw. Since I cant have both like you, you know any good 24" CRTs lol

Imagine going out and buying the latest blockbusting DVD ... you get the widescreen edition for your widescreen TV ... but when you get home you find that in-fact instead of having a wider view the movie has the top and bottom cut off ...

I sure that the game developers wouldn't intend this ... it is just that the game or at least ... the demo ... of the game unfortunately doesn't support widescreen ... :(
The widescreen res hack is just that ... a hack.
The actual game might have widescreen support ... unlikely IMO ... but we shall have to wait and see.

Am i in 1920 * 1200 and not knowing it?
