The widescreen solution has everything you need to fix the game for widescreen. Font sizes get a little crazy in Surround, so the "AssumedUI" thing fixes that, that's all.

You can safely ignore the "overridden base FOV" part altogether.

I'm getting this error with the widescreen utility from WaitingForNahalem:

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

************** JIT Debugging **************
To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
application or computer (machine.config) must have the
jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
The application must also be compiled with debugging
enabled.

For example:

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

The last Bink Settings screenshot for the ending videos on 16:9 appears to be missing, can it be re-uploaded?

I took a look. It appears that for the endgame videos (except for EndgameTemplar.bik), you should be using

Code:
Left: -36    Width:  711
Top:   40    Height: 400

EndgameTemplar seems to already be in 16:9, so you just use the same settings as the screenshot that (as of this post) is still there:

Code:
Left: [blank]    Width:  [blank]
Top:  60         Height: 360
