Hi guys!
Usual story: long time lurker, first time poster.
My mobo died recently, and so need to upgrade. Have been running an Intel 2500k for past 3 years.
I have a 3x30" dell eyefinity setup, running 6970x2 at the moment. Primary use of PC is playing, recording and streaming ARMA3, minecraft, dota, BF4 etc. I usually play single player on eyefinity, and multiplayer on single screen. At the moment I prefer gaming quality/FPS over video production, and so am happy sacrificing some video encoding speed for faster frames.
I'm keeping my crossfire 6970s for now, and will upgrade to AMD 390x or nvidia 880 series when they come out. I usually buy 1 GPU at launch, and then crossfire later on.
So my question is, with my eyefinity setup, would people here recommend going for the typical choice of 4770k, or for the 4820k. Would a 6 core CPU with the more PCI lines be of benefit at larger resolutions (I.e. 7680x1600) on crossfire, or is the 4770k still the better choice?
I'd love to hold out for the next intel gen in q4, but as I need a PC this week, unfortunately can't wait.
Thanks guys
