I want to run eyefinity on 3x 1920x1200 with an sapphire 280x card. And realized I have to buy an active display port -> DVI adapter to run 3 screens. I have some questions about the adapters:

  • Will this adapters lower the image quality, cause blur, or add input lag?
  • *I found some older (2010-2011) topics about flickering issues and black screens, are they fixed by now?
  • I'm intend to use it in 1920x1200 resolution, so a single link would be enough. Should I buy an usb powered dual link for better image quality? (tho this question is moot if it doesn't change quality)
  • Are there any recommended brands?
  • Does the brand actually matters?

The only branded one I found within reachable distance is: http://products.xfxforce.com/en-gb/Acce ... -AP01-PD1K this, anyone have experience with that?

Hi and :welcome
so to your questions.
1: Displayport is a Digital Signal type, so you won't have any quality loss if you have a cheap cable. For the input lag, the transcoding is done nearly instant. So you won't notice it.
2: uhm.... well, there is also a little problem with Displayport. You never know whats happening, in my case i never had these Problems!
3: obsolete. don't spent 100$ for a dual link if you don't need 120hz !
4: AMD has this official List. http://support.amd.com/en-us/recommende ... y-adapters though, thats kinda short, i'm sure lot's of other adapters will work fine too.
5: ah well, no. The chance that a "high quality" brand will mess up/use cheaper parts is smaller, but how can you be sure they're really high quality and not not just marked high quality ?

i believe that ti be incorrect the 280x can use eyefinity for 3 monitors WITOUT needing a Displayport.

http://www.amd.com/us/products/desktop/ ... ies.aspx#5

AMD Eyefinity Technology (Maximum displays)
R9 280X
Monitors : 3 with DVI/HDMI, 4 using DisplayPort, 6 with an MST hub

yes, thats what AMD says. But there are some 280X versions out there that are simply rebranded 7970ghz editions. And They do not work with 2x DVI+ HDMi.
