The fix for GTA: San Andreas has been driving me absolutely up the wall. It worked right off the bat and then it doesn't work anymore. When I start the game with the hack enabled it the screens go black like they always do right before a game starts showing anything and then the game crashes to the desktop. It crashes so quickly that there isn't even an error message, the game just stops running.
There are some resolutions that I can select from the list that the hack shows before launching the game that actually work and the game launches:
640x480x16
800x600x16
640x480x32
800x600x32
640x480x32 (listed twice)
800x600x32 (listed twice)
Selectable resolutions that don't work:
1024x768x16
1280x1024x16
2400x600x32
2520x600x32
1024x768x32
3072x768x32
3224x768x32
1280x1024x32
3840x1024x32
4032x1024x32 (my natve desktop res + bezel comp)
2400x600x32 (listed twice)
2520x600x32 (listed twice)
1024x768x32 (listed twice)
3072x768x32 (listed twice)
3224x768x32 (listed twice)
1280x1024x32 (listed twice)
3840x1024x32 (listed twice)
4032x1024x32 (listed twice)
With forcing the launcher to show, the game can crash intermittently on startup, so you may have to launch a few times before it finally goes through. If you've got more monitors extended in addition to your eyefinity group, you can disable the launcher force code to stop this annoyance (the launcher only shows by default if more than one display is detected, so straight eyefinity counts a 1 and thus the launcher doesn't show). There's also more fun waiting for you once you actually get it started. The bits I remember:
- Can't climb (and possibly can't jump over walls) unless you do it once per startup with the fix disabled, then enable the fix.
- There's a mission where you and Smoke are up against some Russians in an indoor scene. The cutscene breaks with the fix enabled (someone doesn't reach a scripted spot, so it just carries on indefinately), so you need to disable the fix prior to this cutscene, and re-enable it afterwards.
- Explosion radius is somehow keyed to aspect ratio, since in ultrawide resolutions, explosions are super wide along one plane. So watch out of those vehicle explosions - real pain when the riots start happening.
- There's something off with the Chiliad challenge with the fix enabled. I can't remember specifically what it is, but if you get there and stuff is acting up, try turning it off.
- Oh, and as mentioned in the fix description, the skybox is a bit screwed.
There may be more issues I don't remember, but if you can stomach all of the above, the game IS 100%able in eyefinity. Enjoy!
