If you just continue to tear them off, you will not need them for the end result. You'll be happier that you just continued pulling em off, the difference is worth the fuss IMO. Part of the fun is voiding the warranty to better suit your needs.

I really want to do away with the bezels completely and go with 3 projectors onto a custom curved screen. That is kind of hard to sneak by the wife though ;)

Thank you for the guide!

Over the weekend I used this guide on three new U2412M's and it looks great!

I too couldn't find the exact tape OP used at home depot, but was able to locate a product that had comparable ratings as can be seen in the picture.

I hadn't read all of the posts in this thread before I started so I wasn't expecting the melted plastic rivets on the monitor backing but some quick Dremel work took care of those.

Warranties are voided but I couldn't be happier with the end result. Thanks again!

You're very welcome. I'm just glad to see people using it.

I need to post an updated picture sometime. I just (somewhat recently) got the Ergotech triple monitor stand and I love it.

Just a FYI for Dell P2310H owners. I tried this with mine and it won't work unless you go without the back piece completely. Reason being, the back piece of plastic extends as far out as the front plastic border piece anyway, so to reduce the bezels you'd have to go without any of the plastic pieces. When you do this, you can no longer attach the monitor stand since it requires the back piece.

You can either do some more mechanical work and modify the back piece so you have enough for the stand to latch on to or ditch the back piece altogether and use a mount or different monitor stand.

I just bought Dell U2412M monitor from a retailer around 70 miles from my city. The box was seal packed properly with DELL tape. At home when I opened the box and turned on the monitor I saw it is working fine. But a day later I noticed that the bezel is not properly locked at the lower right corner side where there are buttons. So I called up Dell support to have the issue fixed. But they said they only offer on site warranty to customers who purchase directly from Dell and not from a retailer. Now if I want to get this monitor fixed or replaced I have to again take it back to retailer which is too hectic for me. and they don't even send a technician where I live. Also, the monitor is working perfect except for minor backlight bleed at the four corners for black image at full brightness in a dark room(which i read is normal for this model).
Does anybody know how to lock the bezel back? Do I have to remove the screws from the back casing for that? or do i have to only pry into the gap with a butter knife or palette knife to lift the grey plastic edge of the back casing so that the bezel gets loose and then I can lock it in? I have myself assembled around 4 PCs in the past(I know it's not a big deal) but I have no experience with monitors.
This is my first Dell purchase. I read Dell is a good company but I was not expecting this minor flaw of workmanship from Dell. :(
Please help.

dextermaw, I would return it - the screen has definitely been tampered with or miss handled.

Is it brand new or refurb?

Dell should replace the screen, I have never had on site assistance but open a support case with Dell and they will organise a courier to pick it up and then ship you a new one. ( That is how it works in Australia anyway).

If it is a refurb I think you'll have to fight with the retailer.

I just wanted to say thanks for posting this guide. I've got 2 Dell U2312HM monitors on the way to complete the triple screen setup, so this will be very useful if I can summon up the courage to void their warranties.
