Hi, I tried the 1920x1080 exe and it 'works' with my Spellforce Universe copy of Spellforce. However, as mentioned by MSxDOS there is a pretty significant issue with stretching after every cutscene. In fact I thought this fix was completely useless to begin with, because I tried it with a brad new install and character, and there is a cutscene when you first enter the game, so everything was stretched off the bat.

If this cutscene issue could be resolved, that would be excellent. This solution is better than the other widescreen 'fix' involving borderless windowed mode (that method caused a glassy ripple effect over the whole screen), but It still needs work.

I'm unable to use any of the widescreen fixes above 1366x768 or it immediately crashes out with the error below. My video card is an AMD Radeon 6870 with the latest Catalyst drivers.

Update: I installed a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT and the game runs fine at 2560x1600 with the widescreen fix. I uploaded screenshots to my Steam profile. I can even get into 'Options' without it crashing out. The problem might be with AMD Radeon cards or Catalyst drivers, or both. Has anybody successfully run this with a DX11 card from Nvidia? If it works then it would narrow down the problem.

It might be helpful to mention the type of video cards you're using.

I'm almost finished with the 'Order of Dawn' campaign with the 2560x1600 fix (still using a Nvidia GeForce 9500 GT) and the game has run flawlessly so far. I've uploaded a bunch of screenshots to my Steam profile.

I don't even notice that the game is stretched; it looks perfectly fine to me and anyone who has never played it won't know the difference.

No, it is noticeably distorted after running any cutscene, and you must restart the game to revert it:

Good:

Bad (after cutscene):

Good:

Bad (after cutscene):

This is unacceptable distortion, and a major inconvenience to be restarting the game after every cutscene. I'll stick to 4:3 until this is resolved. And to answer your question, I'm using a GTX 580 3GB.

And on a side note, why does no one ever complain about the shadow bug in this game?

One of the most amazing things about Spellforce when it came out was it's beautiful real-time dynamic shadows, but the shadows have been broken for ages now. They're only rendered properly on less than half the screen, see them being drawn and undrawn on the right hand side? I see plenty of Spellforce vids on YouTube where the issue is evident, but no one ever seems to acknowledge the problem. If you ask me, this is a bigger issue than the widescreen thing. I'm sick of having to use ugly blob shadows (normal).

Something worth noting is that this widescreen method uses Vert-.

16:9:

4:3:

Just as the screen is extended vertically for 5:4:

5:4:

But it's also interesting that the HUD is distorted for 5:4 - pretty sloppy considering 1280x1024 is an officially available res.

You can remove the stretching after a cutscene by double switching resolutions i.e. to 1152x864 and then back to 1280x1024. Sucks, but better then restarting the game.
The shadows are buggy for some people, including me. Switching them from Very High to High solves the problem partially.
The game is optimized for 4:3 only, so other screen ratios will result HUD stretching and other issues.

The vert- is not because of the widescreen fixes. It occurs with the original exe. Below you'll see caps in both 1600x1200 and 1920x1200 (reduced 50%). I moved the screen so that the glowing eyes of the monument were top-center. In the widescreen cap, the building at the bottom is almost completely gone. I don't know how to increase the FOV. There is a console command to make the camera free-floating (which is how I took some of my screenshots), but it makes the game unplayable.

Hi, I can't play SF of widescreen, even with fix because I can set only 800x600 and 1024x768. So there I have small request, can someone edit 800x600x32 to 1366x788x32? Here is my spellforce.exe - http://www14.zippyshare.com/v/95747863/file.html
Thanks in advance
