Hello,

I got this crazy idea of making a server room in a closet kind of space in my apartment. And aside the server/switch/ups and whatever else goes there, i want to move my PC case there too! (to get it out of sight)
But for this i need to be able to extend all the cables for about 10 meters. Will be using 3x1 +1 Eyefinity. Do you think its possible to extend the following cables for 10 meters?:
4x single link dvi at 1920x1080 @ 60hz
2x usb 2.0 for keyboard and mouse
power + reset + power led + reset led + mic + phones (i think these can be simply extended without any problem)

Also my motherboard has 2 USB 3.0 ports. do you think its possible to use them like this:
simply extend one (to be able to plug in any usb 3.0 device at my desk)
and connect a usb 2.0 hub to the second (to be able to plug in whatever else device ( s ) i might have (printer/stick/scanner) ); also using this hub over 3.0 usb port will allow all ports to run at full speed simultaneously? or maybe i should use a usb 3.0 hub?

The end product should look like this: a control panel that contains the switches/leds, the sound jacks and the usb ports ( the hub of 2.0 and 1x 3.0 ), the mouse and keyboard, and a stand with the 4 screens, and nothing else!

Thx,
redrat.

,i run 10 m dvi to hdmi from my htpc to my projector and other screens without any issues, the cables need to be reasonable quality . and there are plenty of usb extention cables out there.
you can always add a powered usb hub if you are plugging in a lot of devices at the desk.

a good wireless gaming headset would tidy things up.

I see, but at what resolution? I need to run 1080p, an average projector is running at 1024x768 or something similar, right?

Does the resolution matter?

It's a digital signal! if it arrives it arrives, if it doesn't it doesn't. depending on the resolution you send more or less data. but as long as the frequency is the same that shouldn't make a difference, or does it ??
