first my technical details

Sapphire 6790 2xdvi ports, 1xhdmi, 1xdp
2 ACER x223W's using DVI
1 ASUS VE248Q using DP
16GB RAM
Phenom x6 1090T CPU
890FX chipset

The 2 ACER 223W's are plugged into the 6790's 2 DVI ports
The ASUS is plugged into the DP using a male to male DP cable.

All connections checked, all drivers up to date with Catalyst 12.3

The 2 DVI connected monitors are on and working fine
The DP monitor is blank and not detected at all by the O/S or Catalyst Control Center.

What am I missing?

What kind of DP are you using? Is it active and is it powered? Make sure to check amd's website to see if its compatible.

Edit: I see that monitor has a DP input. Nvm sorry.

Yeah, I specifically got this model so I didn't have to worry about active vs passive. Maybe I should have just gone with an active adapter and a cheaper monitor. My fear is that my 650W PSU may not be pushing enough to the video card to power the additional port. I currently have 2 DVD drives and 2 HDD's and 3 SSD's connected.

I dont think that is it...I have a 600w with a 6950 2gb 1ssd and 1hdd and I am fine...I am pretty sure my 6950 uses a lot more power than a single 6790.

in the immortal words of Charlie Brown...."Good grief!"

So, I broke my system down, popped out 2 lesser used Hard drives, then went to plug everything back in, when i noticed that there was a metal bar separating my expansion slots in the back, this bar was very close to my Graphics card's DP, and when plugged in it appeared to go all the way in, but was about a milimeter shy of it due to this obstruction. So, I popped out the card, used some wire snips and removed the offending piece of aluminum, reconnected, plugged in the DP and Bada bing, works fine.
