Anyone having a 120hz monitor please tell me about it.
I haven't found any 120hz monitors that don't have 3d, and are good. Have you?
I have been thinking of getting the Samsung S27A950D. But it is expensive. Reviews state that it has great 2d. I don't care about 3d.

I guess no one has a 120hz monitor.

The "point" of 120Hz screens are for 3D, which would give you 60Hz per eye. In actual fact, as you said that screen is great for 2D. A lot of people over at HardOCP have it, and the 750D model actually, and like it a lot.

The general consensus is that is not as good as a CRT, but is about the best 120Hz screen you can get, at the moment. The only problem with it IMO is that it isnt 2560x1440 at 27", but that is partly a bandwidth problem too, I understand also that that resolution would be hard to drive at 120 fps.

As far as I know, there's no big benefit, higher frame rates then 60Hz have little to no impact to the human eye on digital image.
120 Hz monitors are optimized for 3D visualization (60 Hz per eye with shutter glasses).

If your system can push the frames you can get a smoother fps experience. But the difference is no where near as noticable from say 30 to 60 fps.

If you can test the resolution of the 120 display on your current display without vsync or frame limiters you should get an idea of the benefits. If you are not getting fps more than 60s or 70s it really isn't worth getting a 120 vs a 60 for non-3d.

I appreciate the information everyone.

I have an i7 965 @4 and an Evga GTX480 SC. My system eats BF3. I plan to get a GTX6## series card whenever they come out. So I should be ok with a 120hz monitor.

I just wish they had large 120hz monitors without 3D.

Here is some information on the 600 series - http://techbytespk.blogspot.com/2012/02/nvidia-gtx-600-series-video-cards.html

gizmodo, cnet etc.
one statement stands out "the best 2d monitor, is a 3d monitor".
they just build the higher end 3d models with all the features we want for 2d as well.
it just sucks that it also boosts the $$$$.

im contemplating this monitors still, but i really would miss my 3x1. but id prolly buy the nvidia 3d kit as well and screw around with 3d surround.
