So armed with just enough knowledge to be dangerous, and with a point in the right directions from valcan_s, I've been searching for the perfect set of TVs for an Eyefinity Setup I've been looking to build. That search has brought me here, to this TV from this vendor:

I guess my question is, what are your thoughts? Shady vendor? Good Price? Will the TV work for widescreen gaming? Basically, is there anything I've missed? I'm just trying to make sure my ducks are all in a row before I pull any 1400$ triggers. =D

Thanks!

That TV will probably be fine if you can live with a little input lag. TV's in general have more input lag than monitors, around 40-80ms or lag. Some people are sensitive to it, some are not bothered by it. Something you need to try for yourself.

Hmmm... I actually don't think I could live with that, haha. I'm kind of a twitch gamer, and I think that would really bother me. What is going to contribute to the input lag, the HZ? The MS?

I found a couple other TVs that might be better. If anyone can, let me know what you think.

Samsung UN32D5500 32-Inch 1080p LED HDTV (pretty thin bezel! 8ms, 120hz)
Specs: http://www.dazzit.com/item/en/US/LCD-TVs/Samsung-UN32D5500PHXZA/#

Philips 40PFL5505D 40-Inch 1080p 240 Hz LCD HDTV (1ms, 60hz)
Specs: http://www.dazzit.com/item/en/US/LCD-TVs/Philips-40PFL5505D-F7/#

I'm trying to make it so that I'm the one doing all the research on this, but of course if anyone knows of a TV that would be perfect for this setup I'm all ears. =P

It's all the signal processing that they do that causes their input lag. I'd look around on sites like AVS Forum for detailed input lag measurements across various T.V.'s

If the TV has a 'Game mode' that's usually the best setting for Input lag.

Thanks for the tip on AVS Forums. I did some digging, and was able to find tested numbers for 2 of the 3 TVs.

UN32D5500: ~30ms
40PFL5505D: ~25ms
UN40D5005 (OP): Unknown

On a whim, I found the input lag for my current monitor (I-Inc iF-281DPB 27.5 inc) and its ~9ms. So I would be about tripling the input lag. I have no idea if that would bother me or not, but it doesn't sound unreasonable. Thoughts?

I would personally stick to something reliably tested to less than 16ms (less than 1 frame at 60Hz) or 8ms (less than 1 frame at 120Hz). But as I said, it is very personal.

You could do a lot worse than get 1 and try it, and then return it if you do not like it. That said, a lot of the monitors have awful input lag too, the U2711 Dell for example has above 30ms lag IIRC. This NEC I have, which is quite old by todays standards seems to have around 15ms lag IIRC, I don't notice any problems with it, but I am looking at a 120Hz screen for better motion (the DVI has died on the monitor so stuck with just VGA at the moment, creating some odd problems with games as the auto mode doesn't center image properly).

Other than that, I don't really know how to help!
