I had an idea of using a crosshair overlay to make up for the lack of in game crosshair when the game is in surround.

Never looked for a program like this but it seems lots of them do exist. One issue I read about was competitive games consitering this a cheat so using dedicated programs is maybe not a great idea.

I did find this though - http://www.autohotkey.com/forum/topic62373.html

I am using the script on the last post, as a AHK script this is not going to be detected as a cheat program.

It has 2 small issues.

1.) Unlike what I wanted (use your own .png or .gif image) this just uses 2 intersecting lines that are long so it can be a bit more than what you want to see on scree.
2.) Game must be in windowed mode

About #2 - Portal 2 has a run game windowed with no border option! have not really seen this before on a game, normally you have to use yet an other 3rd party program to force a "full screen window" but with Portal 2 just enable windowed mode no border for your native resolution and this works fine.

If you want to play in eyefinity/surround and need a crosshair this work around may help you for now. I will give it a try in co-op later.

Tested and works fine, one thing I did was enable and lock my crosshairs before I started the game so that I could use a simple image to make sure I had them centered.

Have not tested these yet, but some of these sound nicer than what I posted above, can use your own .gif image on a few of them.

Using the AHK script murders FPS on mine. Played 3/4 the game without the crosshair so fair, its not a shooter so it really doesnt matter. Remember you can zoom in too.

I did not like the AHK script toomuch, I have now managed to complete the game without a crosshair without toomuch issue, to be honest, I never really noticed it was missing untill it was mentioned here.

Yep, just completed it, Crosshair would have made some little sections slightly easier, but its not like you have an "ammo" counter anyhow!

It's about as much of a "cheat" as Xfire overlay or Raptr overlay, if done properly. I am assuming you are talking about the in-game cheat detection engines and not the competitive leagues banning such a tool?

I still just use a small bit of post-it with a crosshair drawn on it when needed, fire off a shot and note the center of screen, put your tiny bit of post-it in place. Talk about going old-school :)

Id never put anything on my U2410's id have to commit seppuku for it. Plus I sort of refuse to do something like that when a streamline software solution should be so easy to do.
