Hey guys, the company i bought my old gtx 280 card is offering to replace my busted 280 for a to GTX 470 1280MB Palit, anyways i have been planning on buying a ATI 5970 to run triple monitor setup, but is it a better option with maybe 2x 470?

The problem is i have an ASUS motherboard P7p55D LE and i heard it wont run 2 gfx card together at full speed,so what is the better option for me to use?

1x ATI 5970
2x 470 taking into consideration of motherboard speed

Thanks guys

Don't worry about your motherboard. The speed difference is negligible.

If you want to buy the cards immediately, i would go for the GTX 470 in SLI. If you are willing to wait a bit longer, the 6800 series is about to come out.

Well this is getting a little frustrating now lol,

I was told specifically to NOT get 2 x470 (due to my MB speed) as the 1 x 5970 is far superior and runs almost 30-40 % better?
i cant afford the new H6 series ati card to be honest so it is down to the options as stated,2 x 470 or 1 x 5970.
Also i will probably fit in 2 cards(but with a squeeze as i already have a creative soundcard installed)

thanks for more feedback guys , i really appreiate it

Really, dont worry about your mobo, the speed will indeed be negligible, as it is only a few %.

Dont know about what MB you have. I just went from 2 5870's to 2 GTX 470's and I like the 470's much better Im running three Dell 2410's @ 5760x1200 got sick of the buggy and incomplete drivers from ATI.

I think you'll find that if you read his original post, he is referring to the 5970, not the 5870.
