This first-person puzzler combines the two-color logic of Portal with the potentially lethal visions of Amnesia. Copycat ? Sure... but Magrunner is also the one and only videogame featuring both a teleporting magnetizer dog and the Cthulhu mythos.

Multi-Monitor Handling in Apple OS 10.9 Mavericks

While we are decidedly a PC gaming website, many users (myself included) use Macs on a regular basis. At this years WWDC, Apple showed off improved support for multi-monitor systems in the upcoming release of OS X 10.9 (Mavericks). A developer (with a six monitor rig) has put the beta OS though its paces, and offers up some pros and cons in the updated support.

My Personal DIY Curved Screen - Part 1

This blog post is dedicated to my personal DIY curved screen. I made this screen to show the capabilities of Warpalizer together with a curved screen, for showing media on YouTube, showing customers and to learn more about this subject myself, as I'm pretty new to this. I will try my best to make a DIY post to show you that a curved screen does not have to be expensive. With small changes on this "design" you can make a screen in a corner. Please read on and do not hesitate to ask any questions.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn takes place in the fictional land of Eorzea, five years after the events of the original release. At the conclusion of Final Fantasy XIV, the primal dragon Bahamut escapes from its prison inside an artificial moon to initiate the Seventh Umbral Era, an apocalyptic event which destroys much of Eorzea. Through the gods' blessing, the player character escapes the devastation by time traveling five years into the future. As Eorzea recovers and rebuilds, the player must deal with the impending threat of invasion by the Garlean Empire from the north.

Ground Control

Ground Control is a 2000 real-time tactics game developed by Massive Entertainment. It features 3D graphics and a free-floating camera which allows one to zoom in and out and view the action from any angle, from a bird's-eye view to the perspective of one's own assault units at ground level. As a real-time tactics game, Ground Control completely does away with resource and economic management. One must therefore focus all attention on controlling a limited set of units to achieve victory.

Metro: Last Light (formerly Metro 2034) is a first-person shooter video game developed by Ukrainian studio 4A Games and published by Deep Silver for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. It was released in May 2013.[3] The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world and features action-oriented gameplay.

WSGF HTPC Build w/ AMD Trinity APU

I've decided to build an HTPC based on the AMD Trinity APU, and I need your help in picking out the last few parts (case, PSU, RAM and Blu-Ray).

At a recent checkup, the pediatrician asked me what gaming console I would recommend. After going through the pros and cons of each current console, I settled on the Xbox 360 as my recommendation. Then after a moment, it dawned on me that an HTPC would be a better option for his (and my kids) to game on.

I figure that a small form factor PC based on an APU, with an Xbox controller, and Steam in Big Picture Mode will fit the bill perfectly. So, I've decided to test the theory by doing an HTPC build centered on the AMD A10-6800K. This will also give me a good testbed for future single screen benchmarking.

Michael Dell Shares WSGF Rig

In a nice little bit of news, I was tipped off to the fact that Michael Dell (yes, THE Michael Dell) shared my "3 over 1" gaming rig on his Google+ page. He linked to my video of the 21:9 ultra-wide gaming reel. Pretty cool. You can see the post here.

WSGF and the Oculus Rift

As many will remember we Kickstarted the Oculus Rift, thanks in no small part to a short donation drive we ran. We bought in right at the very end, and thus were one of the last people to get our unit. I received the WSGF about 10 days ago, but haven't had time to devote to it.

Seeing that I wouldn't have time in the near future, I put the call out to local WSGF members I knew to be interested. Last night I dropped the unit off with peanut, who previously wrote an article comparing 3x1080p 60Hz multi-mon to 1440 120Hz single screen.

He will be doing the initial unboxing and putting the unit through its initial paces. I expect some video footage from this before too long. After that we should be passing the unit off to TheDestroyer and Zencyde as well. We are also looking at the possibility of setting up an event to show it off and give more people time to check it out. If you're interested in that, please comment in the discussion thread.

In related news, Oculus demoed a 1080p version of the Rift at E3. The overall verdict is that it is much improved over the current dev, and a solid step in the right direction.

Computex 2013 Roundup

A bit late, but here is a quick roundup of the display-centric news out of the recent Computex 2013 show in Taipei.

ASUS displayed their 31.5" 4k UHD panel. The $3,799 panel will launch in Q3 and have DisplayPort and dual HDMI inputs, with P-in-P. Anyone got a mountain of cash to loan me? - Link
Sharp showed off "retina" panels which double the pixel count (in both H and V) of 1600x900 panels. These 14" and 15.6" iGZO panels mimic the Apple method of achieving "HiDPI" pixel density. - Link
