The WSGF had the opportunity to sit down and chat with AMD about the new Catalyst 14.6 update. This update is not to be missed, and brought several new features to the virtual table (desktop):
Wolfenstein®: The New Order reignites the series that created the first-person shooter genre. Under development at Machine Games, a studio comprised of a seasoned group of developers recognized for their work creating story-driven games, Wolfenstein offers a deep game narrative packed with action, adventure and first-person combat.
Child of Light is a platforming role-playing video game. It puts players in the shoes of Aurora, a child stolen from her home, who, in her quest to return, must bring back the sun, the moon and the stars held captive by the mysterious Queen of the Night.
Gameplay mixes the attributes of a side-scroller with RPG elements such as leveling-up to increase stats over time. Battles with enemies utilize a system similar to the Active Time Battle system found in games like the Final Fantasy series and Grandia.
SotA is a fantasy role-playing video game. Described as being a spiritual successor to the Ultima series, Shroud of the Avatar is primarily developed by Richard Garriott as creative director, Starr Long as executive producer, Chris Spears as lead technical designer, and Tracy Hickman as lead story designer. Shroud of the Avatar is currently estimated for release in Q4 of 2014.
Shroud of the Avatar: Forsaken Virtues will have a dual-scale over-view world map, player housing, crafting, an active virtue system, and "selective multiplayer", which allows players to choose whether to play online or offline. The entire game can be played offline.
WildStar is a mmorpg with a futuristic setting and a cartoon aesthetic, it has a unique active combat system that is not only highly mobile but telegraphic the area of effect for every attack, this leads to some interesting attack pattens that take skill and memorization to avoid. The game has decent multi-monitor support, my resolution was available from launch and the game runs horizontal plus. Most of the UI is correctly scaled and some of the more important elements can be moved around. Unfortunately the games performance isn't quite there yet, leading to drops in frame rate, there is also currently no SLI support.
The video itself is part analysis, part walkthough and part waffle, feel free to like or dislike my video and comment are always welcome too.
While this video can be watched on any screen it has been encoded to look best on a multi-monitor system, so if your running such a system, then select 4K quality from the drop down box and watch in fullscreen.
Narbacular Drop is an environmental puzzle video game. The gameplay consists of navigating a dungeon using an innovative portal system. The player controls two interconnected portals that can be placed on any non-metallic surface (wall, ceiling, or floor).
The plot involves the plight of a Princess "No-Knees," so named because she is unable to jump. Captured by a demon, the imprisoned princess discovers that the dungeon she is held in is actually a sentient elemental creature named Wally. Using Wally's portal-making ability, the princess sets out to escape and defeat the demon.
We had a bit of an issue with Episode 7. The RAID on the edit suite lost a drive, and we lost the source video. We'll be releasing that as an audio-only episode, but, here is Episode 8 of the WSGF Podcast, featuring Simon "TheDestroyer" and Chris "peanut".
