Weird! Everything is the same except the catalyst version. :?

Now we know at least why GPU-Z reports it as 9.10 for you.

Strange? Yeah. I thought maybe GPU-Z was wrong. but it's only showing what it sees.

Well , I just ran a quick benchmark in dirt 2 . and with it set at 2XMSAA and settings on high. This is what I have in crossfireX eyefinity 5760X1200

FPS

high 53.8
low 43.2

Just for kicks I reinstalled hotfix again. This time I saved the Installation log. and made sure I ran as admin.

I was thinking about it , and earlier I mentioned that I came in at 9.11 drivers. but I remember now. I actually did have the 9.10 drivers at one time.

I remember now because i had a strange refresh issue in the CCC were the menu would refresh every 10 seconds and i couldn't navigate in the menu because of it. the 9.11 drivers fixed that issue . So yeah, I did come in at the 9.10 drivers.

FYI - we have implemented a new Crossfire X power mechanism in one of the recent drivers, whereby the "slave" boards in a Crossfire setup exist in a deeper ACPI sleep state at the desktop in order to save power; they only "wake up" when a.) Crossfire X is actually enabled and b.) when a game comes on a Crosfire X is actually needed.

This will result in the seeming loss of fan control for the slave boards, because at the desktop its not actually "awake". I'm not sure what this will do to 3rd party apps - they probably need to be aware of this and at present they probably aren't.

Well, So far I have just left the ATI overdrive locked. Both cards I can tell are running on Auto. According to GPU-Z there is about a 7- 10 degree difference between the cards. and Hardware monitor reads the fans and temp the same.

Its all good for me though I haven't seen the cards get above 65 Celsius. and they Idle around 42. So, that's fine for me. so I'm not going to even download afterburner after all. Why mess with a good thing. right?

I'm still baffled about the driver version showing up as 9.10 though. everything about the driver I have installed acts and looks like the 9.12 hotfix. I know for a fact I really cleaned the old 9.12 driver out . Unless there were remnants of the 9.10 in the registry? that showed back up after the thorough cleaning of 9.12??.

I don't know. It's working that's all that matters to me.

The only reason I run Afterburner is to see (via OSD or my G15) how much/if the second card in my Crossfire setup is working. There's absolutely no need for fan control on these exceptionally cool-running cards. I've never seen them go above 65c or their fans go beyond 30%.

Is this the same for the second gpu on the 5970? I use the msi afterburner app on my saphire 5970 and it seems like the readout does not match what I have save in a profile. Thank you for the reply.

This is a repost, as it was never answered:

So just asking, does the new drivers still allow for the 4800 seies to use TH resolusions, because i've had the same drivers since I built my compy in the summer. I think I'm on 9.8 or 9.9.

[quote]The desktop mouse cursor becomes enlarged at random when using Windows 7

Sweet! Right now my mouse is extra large on both side monitors and regular sized on the middle one. It'll be nice to have that fixed.

Now that there is support for Crossfire I'll have to think about getting another 5850...

Well, so much for the fix. :( I'm running 9.12 (even confirmed with gpu-z), and I've got an extra large cursor on my center monitor. This is the first time it's happened since the update, so at least it's less common.
