I do not know a whole lot about display port, but I remember when it was still in the making and one of the cool new features it had was the ability to run up to 6 monitors from a single connection by daisy chaining one monitor to the next.
So my question is, if you can do this do you even need a Matrox? Perhaps its similar to how USB --> VGA adapters work where you get a extra screen but its not fast enough for a game/movie where a lot happens on screen at a fast rate.
I really want to add a 2nd monitor to my existing one at work and I am stuck with our stock computers so my only option is a USB adapter or a Matrox and I just cant find a Matrox cheap anywhere, not even an analog dual version.
