Been quite a while in this thread, but I just got this game through recent sales on steam so I'm just playing it now. The only 'fix' that makes the game playable and working I've seen so far is simply changing your viewportx to 3x your normal resolution (5760 in my case). Any fiddling with hud scaling and such just makes everything warped or skinny, so I just let them be.

That said, there are tons of blemishes in the menus, stretched HUD and 2D elements, etc... but the game is 100% playable.

However, my biggest gripe right now has to do with the crossbow. I didn't notice it for a long time until I saw an actual screenshot of a zoomed in crossbow on the wiki and thought "Mine does NOT look like that!". So here is my debacle:

Note that I took the shots of triple wide vs. normal at different times so the position is ever so slightly off, but it demonstrates what I want.

- The first shot is normal triple wide view. Perfectly Hor+ with stretched 2D HUD, nothing surprising.
- The second shot is zoomed in xbow. As you can see the zoom is HUGE. I played like this for god knows how long but suspected something was amiss.
- The third shot is a 'workaround' that I stumbled into. If you buy the xbow then alt-tab and tab back in, it'll now zoom like that. It still didn't feel quite right nor did it match what I saw of xbow screenshots online, so I finally ran it at 1920x1080.
- The fourth shot shows a normal 1 monitor view.
- And finally, the fifth shot shows what a crossbow zoom SHOULD look like as demonstrated on a single 1920x1080 monitor.

Summary:
- Default xbow zoom in triple wide zooms very far in. Certainly an 'advantage' on maps like this one, but almost unusable at medium range on most maps.
- Alt tabbing then tabbing back in gives you a much smaller zoom, but too small.
- Normal single monitor zoom is somewhere in between the two, this is what I want to somehow get.

Heh, I like the sharpshooter as a class, but I think most importantly it levels up the fastest. I just wanted a level 5 class so I can spawn with a gun that I can pawn. Pretty useful.

Time to level up the other classes.

Interesting. I can't think of any other game I've played in which the sniper scope would pop up on top of the weapon model instead of completely replacing it.

The zoom (reticle and portion of the map inside it) is clearly Vert-, so it is indeed more "powerful" in widescreen and surround. Your single-screen shots are 16:9, so I wonder if the "alt-tabbed" zoom would perchance look similar to 4:3 or 5:4, and thus be the "intended" design.
