the EDID in dx10 won't list 5040x1050 because the firmware adds support for it but doesn't make it the native resolution, the native res is stil listed as 3840x1024 so you got to hack the EDID with the EDIDrestrictionflag 0 in the registry for dx10 and 5:1 aspect.

Sounds wonderful. How exactly do I hack the EDIDrestrictionflag? And do I change it to "1" or "0"?

just install another os and dual boot.

vista 64 is a bitch with everything (drivers/games/etc)

u don't need 64 bit unless ur hardcore rending which would benefit from 8 gb ram

xp can handle 3-3.5gigs and that plenty :)

Vista is not a bitch at all....

EDIT: dont give trolls food.... cut some statements out...

But btw i got mine to work.

I did manage to register my th2go and wrote a support ticket.

I got an gxm software by email with the advice to use nvidia vista 64 178.24 + latest downloadable firmware + attached gxm.

now everything works.

I am thinking about aksing matrox for a better explanation on their website. The latest gxm you can download there is said by their support to work with nvidia 175.19

We suggest you to try the following combination of PowerDeskSE and Nvidia driver.

1. 178.24 driver (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_178.24_whql.html) + the attached PowerDeskSE(being tested version)

2. 175.19 driver (http://www.nvidia.com/object/winvista_x64_175.19_whql.html)

+ the online released version of PowerDeskSE (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/drivers/download/?id=278)

Also check out this link http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/gxm/windows/th2go/digital/howto2/

That should also be helpful.

Even my samsung 226bw does work now in this combination (which i dont understand, because i am not able to force it to work with 1680*1050 at 57hz when plugged in as single display)

Hi,

Thank you Falke for your help. I got this message from Matrox support :
Please try the 1.75 WHQL driver for your 8800GTX.
This is an official release from Nvidia. The 1.78 driver has a conflict with PowerDeskSE which causes the 3x1680*1050 resolution is not available.

Please let us know if the 1.75 driver works.
Once in Windows mode, the 3x1680*1050 available, you may try to optimize the game again with SGU and this time select 5040*1050.

So, I've 5040X1050, but only in desktop setup, Power SE doesn't have triple wide resolutions (single or dual are possible).

I tried to restore the setting in SGU and re-optimize it again, but the game played a single 800X600 resolution.

Where can I find the file you've got ?

Well it was kinda easy...

installed 178.24, the gxm i got from matrox support by email, and the firmware which you can download from matrox.

after i got all these 3 things on, i opened my gxm and found at the window of changing resolution the new widescreens. i managed my desktop to 5040*1050 and then started game for game, and set in the game options 5040*1050 thats all.
I am not using SGU at all, well i am not sure what it is for, because lotro and cod4:mw work this way

if you managed your desktop to 5040*1050 then you can change your game in the normal game options... or?

What is you GXM version number ? I didn't have 5040X1050 with 178.24

I can manage the desktop, to 5040X1050, but in games, the only avalaible resolution are these that the PowerDesk can manage.
Forcing the resolution (when editing the cfg or ini files) does not work, the game resolution after that is only 800X600 on screen 1.

Best regards

which game are we talking about?

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/wiki/index.php/Essential_Games_List

I guess not every game will support 5040*1050 so which one do you want to play?

I mean FSX, a Matrox message says me it should work, but they seem not understand that desktop resolutions is one thing and PowerDesk does not have the same ... and that games only know PowerDesk resolutions.

So, I know that my screens can manage the 5040X1050@57htz, that all cable and hardware are OK, it works fine on desktop !

What I have is probably a problem between Powerdesk and Nvidia driver, a lot of driver cannot manage triple wide, so I stay with the 175.19 taht Matrox recommended to me.

Here is what I see in Matrox PowerDesk SE :Product TripleHead2Go Digital Edition
NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTX
GXM Version : 2.3.2.8
Display mode 5040X1050@57htz, 32bpp

When I click on support information :
Micropprogram version 2.3.40
Video table version 6.52

Do you have different versions ?

Best regards
