I enjoy music, playing games, and talking on Teamspeak. Hence the Sound card thread and now this one. With a 100 $ limit, what's the best quality Headset I can purchase, preferably off newegg? :)

I really liked my Icemat Siberia headphones (they merged under another company's name though, dunno which). Good quality and the microphone was a clip-on so you could use the cans elsewhere. Also helpful now that I use ATH-A700s instead, so I don't need a new mic. ;)

Two of my friends have the same headset. I have no idea what its called, but they got it at Best Buy and the earmuff parts were square and the inside of them had some red. It came with a USB dongle so if you wanted the game coming out your speakers and not from the headset you could do that. But if you wanted you could plug it directly into the headphone jacks on your computer.

Sorry I don't have the name. I'll get it later.

Open Ear: Sennheiser HD 555's
Closed Ear: Audio-Technica ATH-A500

The ones Mobster is talking about are the Plantronics .AUDIO series. I had a set before I got good headphones. When you have bad headphones you really dont know what you are missing.

I sprang for the ATH-A500's because I need closed headphones, they were an impulse buy based on great reviews for gaming and they were in my price range. At first I was skeptical because I had never heard of Audio-Technica but I'm really glad I went with them.

The Icemat Siberia's are very prone to damage for some reason. Apparently they are made with paper. Thats the only reason I can not recommend them.

Great site if you choose the Audio-Technica's is http://www.audiocubes.com

Another good brand is Beyerdynamic, they make great gaming headphones too.

And remember kids human ears are NOT square! The Plantronics headphones are the most uncomfortable headphones that I've ever used.

no joke. Honestly, I'd do what I did...buy a mic...a simple Logitech one cost me $10, and its crystal clear. I then could change my headphones as often as I wanted.

As for sound: closed / isolated (meaning you can't hear people and they can't hear your stuff...

Sennheiser 280

For open, I loved my sennheiser 600's, and would recommend them to you, but if only $100, I'd give the 555's a spin.

Amen to that. A decent pair of headphones and mic will always beat out an equivalent priced headset.

Yeah I got a cheap little Zalman mic that attaches to the neckline of my shirt if I fold it over. That plus my Sennheiser 280 Pro headphones and I am one happy camper.

Not that I camp while gaming though! :D

That Zalman mic is AMAZING. Too bad newegg stopped selling it though, or Zalman stopped making it.

I'm not so sure about amazing. I have to have it resting against my throat for it to pick up anything. If I attached it to the cord of my headphones like it says to, it picks up nothing at all.
