Hello everybody,

have one question. i am intending to get the digital th2g once released, but wondering if somebody has an idea if it makes sense to get an addionally 2nd gpu (working in SLI mode), to increase the performance while playing in 3840x1024 solution.

because i heard that SLI is not really supported well and makes only a difference in high resolutions. so the question is, do i have to see the 3840x1024 resolution as HIGH, than SLI would make sense, or do i have to see it either as three time 1280x1024, so SLI would not make sense.

my sys:

Asus A8n32-Sli deluxe
AMD X2 3800+
7800 GTX (256mb)
2 GB Ram

thanks (and sorry for the bad english :) )

3840x1024 is most definitely a high resolution. Very high.

SLI makes sense for triplehead, so unlike most situations you wouldn't be wasting money if you purchased 2 nVidia cards. Still, it is not very economically efficient, because you will never get twice the performance when you have 2 video cards.

If you have the money to spend, then maybe you want SLI, but consider that the same money could be spent 2 years from now on a new GPU to probably make the games that are new then playable in triplehead.

I think SLI and TH2G are well suited to each other due to the high resolution.

If you have the CPU horsepower to push it.

TH2G with a low end system/CPU? Useless!

the ram is limiting at this resolutions, so a second 7800gtx would not be recommend.
I would recommend selling your 7800gtx for 100-120 euros and getting one 8800gts 640 mb or if you are low on money 320mb.
