I recently picked up an X-Fi card and while I love how it sounds in games, its made my system unstable. I hear a fresh install of XP could be the cure, but while I'm formating anyway I thought I'd give vista a go.

I've got several games installed, but this is the only one I really care about. I'm wanting to see what my 64 bit processor can do in an OS made for it, but am really obsessed with the game... Anyone know for a fact if it works?

Also, just double checking--my stats are saved online right? if i reinstall I'll keep my medals/ribbons/ranks right?

Yes, all your medals, ribbions and stats are kept on EA's awards/points server. Reformat all you want, you'll be safe.

I would back up all your game files in your 'My Documents' folder. After installing the new OS and games, add these files back into their previous directories just as they were in the previous install. Also check out C:Documents & Settingsyour user accountApplication Data for other files your applications depend on, like firefox and thunderbird profiles for example. This will ensure you have a smooth transition to your new install.
