I was really impressed with the performance of the game (autodetected Ultra Quality). It was running no less than 35 outside and uptp 60 indoors.
That was until i headed west into a large forest and the framerate took a huge dive, like unplayably slow!
I think my CPU is my bottleneck here... and my onboard sound isnt helping either (and my Audigy 2 doesent fit in the case...)
Paradigm Shifter... your pc is almost identical to mine apart from your faster CPU, hows it running for you?
(i have HDR on, i dont find the jaggies much of a problem in this game...)
We have essentially the same systems. I wouldn't exactly say that your 4200+ X2 is your bottleneck. The game is dual core optimized so I would imagine that your CPU is better suited than even Paradigm's 4000+ single core. The game is just bleeding edge as far as the technology goes. This game will tax ANY system out there now.
What resolution are you running framerateuk? I brought mine down a step to 1680x1050 and I get very good framerates everywhere. Everyone gets lower framerates when it is rendering a ton of swaying trees and grass, but anything over 30 fps is fine for me with games like this. It actually runs well at 1920x1200 everywhere except outside in the forests where it would go into the 20s. This is why i dropped it down a notch resolution wise and gained about 10FPS more. You should net similar results. (I do have both my CPU and video card overclocked however.)
To Paradigm: The distant land textures look kinda crappy even on "Ultra High" settings, but people have been tweaking their .ini files to make the game look even better as far as distant textures go. (at a cost of framerate). I personally havent messed with it, because I don't really want to make the game perform worse. This is one future-proofed game. We won't likely see the game in all it's potential splendor for a few generations of hardware.
