Yeah...................but that's at single resolutions. He's talking about high screen resolutions.
Not sure I understand your input here, but...
There aren't any hard benchmarks on hi-res widescreen vs. TH2Go. The MP ratings are close, so that should give you a benchmark. BUT, the one difference that hasn't been accounted for is the greater FOV. A shift from 1920x1200 to 2560x1600 gives you more pixels, but it has the same geometry and the same number of objects. You're only increasing the detail of the existing scene.
Going from 2560x1600 to 3840x1024 is actually a drop in pixels, but you are adding more objects - terrain, crates, enemies, effects, etc. No one has done a comparison to show how this scales. But, I am about to build a rig for a DTH2Go setup, and a DTH2Go review. I also have a 30" panel, and will be benchmarking this.
Paddy was getting good frame rates with a single (and then a double) 7950GX2 configuration. Granted, different games were top of the heap then, but he never complained. He's running 2x8800GTX, and seems to be in heaven...
