Just got Stalker the other day and so far I've been very pleased. Maybe I'm not the game snob that some people are, but the graphics are pretty impressive to me, and that's without the dynamic lighting even! My poor ATI X850XT can't seem to handle it. Also, I enjoy the thought put into the atmosphere and computer AI. Anyway, what's really eating at me are the small things, such as the lack of info with the instruction manual. Leaving out the keys for autosave and time lapse, what's with that? I'm still trying to get figure out how to use that last one properly. Soooooo...does anyone else have any tidbits of wisdom they'd like to pass on?

Opening the case for the first time was really baffling to me. A huge 5CD/DVD case, 1 dvd and a damn small instruction guide...

Yes.... :lol:

I even hacked a bit in the registry and ALchemy but it just wont work. Maybe I can just wait for the first patch. :(

Hm. With news of the FOV fix, I picked a copy of STALKER up this morning.

Thoughts so far?

I'm not too impressed. It's not the graphics, it's not even the fact that it doesn't seem to run terribly well. (Although the framerate is fine - it's weird. Still feels really laggy...)

Its probably just the way the engine is built, I know with doom3 for me 60+ fps felt like 30 fps in HL2.

How is the performance with dynamic lightning for you guys?

Not too bad. It's not amazing by any stretch of the imagination, but it's about playable.
