Post subject: | The 2013 WSGF GOTY Award Winners |
IntroductionEvery year, the WSGF community gets together to nominate the very best games that have perfect widescreen and multi-monitor support and then vote for a winner. We also nominate the mainstream and indie developers who we think have done the best job ensuring their games work perfectly on our systems. 2013 marked the rising popularity of the 21:9 format monitors. To be eligible for GOTY voting in the past, games were required to achieve gold certification in both Widescreen and Multi-Monitor. This year marks the first year that the game also had to achieve gold certification in Ultra-Widescreen 21:9. So onto the winners... as chosen by you! Game Of The Year: Metro: Last LightThis survival game set in the post apocalyptic world beat 14 other nominees to take the title, earning over twice the votes of the nearest contender. Metro: Last Light was flawless in its widescreen, ultra-widescreen, and multi-monitor support, as well as winning the hearts of many gamers here. Congratulations to 4A Games for their win! The voting poll can be found here. Mainstream Developer Of The Year: 4A GamesThe field of mainstream developers nominated this year was very strong. All the developers deserve a shout-out for their support of our community, who showed their love with all developers receiving votes. However, there can only be one winner. 4A Games took out the voting as the community rewarded them for two consecutive gold certified titles with Metro 2033 (2010) and Metro: Last Light. A well deserved win, congratulations once again to 4A Games! The voting poll can be found here. Indie Developer Of The Year: Flying Wild HogThe indie developers represented themselves very well with a strong field of nominees releasing some outstanding games. It was great to see developers engage with us to ensure their games were as good as they could possibly be. For those nominees that did not win this year, you had to be perfect to even be nominated, so we thank you for that and be proud! The winner as chosen by the community was the Polish developer Flying Wild Hog, who have now released their second consecutive gold certified game in Shadow Warrior. Congratulations to Flying Wild Hog! The voting poll can be found here. ---- Thank you all for voting in this years polls. I have selected a user from the poll thread participation to receive a copy of the current Humble Bundle promotion (or we'll sort something else out if need be!) for their participation in this years voting and discussion. Congratulations to aolsen! |
