I had a asus gtx 980 strix, loved it, wanted to upgrade since there suddenly was alot of cheap used gtx 980,980 ti, sold my card after i found a extreme good deal on a 3 week old gigabyte gtx 980 ti (the all black version)
Never had problems with 1x dell U2515H 75hz and Acer predator x34 100hz but gigabyte 980 ti change to a for me to high speed and when it's hot here in denmark the card got to hot, noisy, a bit not coil whine but som electric noise form the card and i didn't noticed a big difference between my gtx 980 and the 980 ti.
Didn't noticed any noise with my asus gtx 980 except for a bit coliwhine at high fps (mabye 200fps or something like that in project cars when the game was loading) not to bad, i did manged to sell it (980 ti) for the same price i payed
Late today (may 11) i just managed to buy a new asus gtx 960 strix 4gb (as my temporary card) since the store had it so they could sent it yesterday (the same day i ordered it and i will get it tomorrow) so at least i have a card when i have to sent my gtx 980 ti to the one who bought it, would have bought a evga and used the stepup program, but there wasn't any gtx 960 2gb and 4gb stock (forgot about the 970)
Accordig to powertechup it's 27 db (asus gtx 960) vs 30 db (asus gtx 980) in load, Like that alot and also have a backplate like the asus 980 strix, then i though get another one and do sli, reading about performance 1x asus gtx 960 strix is just above a gtx 670 and a hd 7950,more or less as fast as a stock gtx 680, not to bad for a low end gaming gpu or a high perfomance multimedia card
http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/ASUS/GTX_960_STRIX_OC/29.html Here a hd 7870 is used with 6x1920x1080 monitors 12.44million pixels, that's alot for such a small gpu
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hKLngheU_OgOnce i had 3x1920x1080 monitors i played on with a gtx 780, that is more then 6 million pixels, 3440x1440 is just under 5 million pixels, the difference in pixels would make a little difference in max fps, since i needed only 60 fps with 3 full hd monitors, with my predator x34 i need 100 or atleast alot more then 60 fps, 5 million pixels (100hz) is not as much as 6 million pixel (60hz)
Not shure if the cards techpowerup used is stock gtx 960 ref card or oced cards like asus or msi with the good coolers, gtx 960 in sli is as fast as a gtx 780 in 3840x2160 and the old 6gb titan,r9 290
I would be fine if performance is the same as a gtx 780 (techpowerup say gtx 960 in sli is as fast as a gtx 780)since i played in 5760x1080 with no problems and the below 5 million pixels would make up for me needing much more then 60 fps but not more then 100 fps
If 2x asus gtx 960 would be as fast as a asus gtx 980 it would also be fine since i had not problems with a gtx 980 and games in 3440x1440 100hz
Using 2xgtx 960 would give me more sli experience and would be different, not the typical set up, low noise 27 db in load good space between the 2 red pci e slots (asus vii ranger z97 mb) i think it would be okay in turns of noise and heat (define r5 case with 3 140mm pwm noctua fans and a noctua nh-d15 cpu cooler)
If im going sli depends on the benchmark of the new gtx 1070,1080 and the prices here in Denmark
What do you think, i do not play games that are ram intensivce at all gta far cry and all the other games i don't play, mostly i play racing games like dirt 3, projectcars, need for speed 2 unleashed, boarderlands the presequel, bioshock infinite, bf3 ,bf4 (i am gonna get bf 1) for mabye 1 hour every day
Is it possible to use a gtx 960 4gb for physx and then a gtx 980 as my main card (does both cards have to have the same amount of vram?)
